Day 1: The Danger of Comfort
Reading: 2 Samuel 11:1-5; Proverbs 16:27
Devotional: David's greatest failure didn't begin with adultery—it started when he stayed home from where he should have been. "In the spring, at the time when kings go off to war, David sent Joab out...But David remained in Jerusalem." Comfort and disengagement from our calling create dangerous openings for the enemy. When we put our faith on cruise control, when we disengage from the spiritual battles we're called to fight, we become vulnerable. Idle hands truly become the devil's workshop. Today, examine your life honestly: Are you actively engaged in what God has called you to do, or have you gotten comfortable? Your greatest victories often come right before seasons of testing. Stay alert. Stay engaged. Stay in the fight.
Reflection: Where have I become too comfortable in my spiritual walk? What calling have I disengaged from?
