Day 3: When Serving Costs You Something
Reading: Ruth 1:14-18
Devotional: Ruth's commitment to Naomi was made in the absence of reward, comfort, or promise of a better future. Naomi had nothing to offer. There was no Boaz on the horizon yet. There was only grief, bitterness, and an uncertain road ahead. Yet Ruth clung. Real love is not revealed when serving is easy and rewarding. It is revealed when serving costs you something. Ask yourself honestly today: do I serve God and others when there is nothing in it for me? The transformation that produces that kind of faithfulness does not come from trying harder. It comes from being genuinely touched by a love that first served you at great cost.
