Day 5: New Every Morning
Reading: Lamentations 3:22-23 and Isaiah 1:18
Devotional: Lamentations 3:22-23 was written in the middle of devastation. The city was in ruins. The writer had every reason to despair. And yet, in that place, he anchors himself to the truth that God's compassions do not run out. They are new every morning. Whatever yesterday looked like — whatever stains feel permanent, whatever failures feel irreversible — Isaiah 1:18 declares that God's love is powerful enough to remove what nothing else can touch. The stain that feels bonded into the fabric of who you are is not beyond him. Great faithfulness does not mean things will always be easy. It means his mercies will always be sufficient.
Reflection: Do you approach each morning as a fresh start with God, or do you carry yesterday's weight into today?
Application: Begin tomorrow morning before doing anything else by reading Lamentations 3:22-23 aloud. Let it be the first declaration of your day. Then ask God specifically what new thing he wants to do in you today.
