Day 5: Put Yourself Second

Reading: Philippians 2:3-4 -- Believers are encouraged to consider others more significant than themselves and to look not only to their own interests but also to the interests of others.

Devotional: A small act of kindness -- two mints and three words -- can break open a heart that has been quietly struggling for weeks. Putting yourself second does not always require a grand gesture. Sometimes it is as simple as getting up from your seat and walking across a room toward someone who looks like they need to be seen. The world runs on a first-come, first-served model. The Kingdom of God runs on something entirely different. It runs on people who are willing to place others ahead of themselves, not because it is easy, but because they have been shown that same grace by a God who put all of us before himself. That is the call. Me second.

Personal Reflection: What would change in your relationships, your workplace, or your church if you made a daily decision to put others first?

Practical Application: Before you leave your home each day this week, ask one simple question: "Who can I put before myself today?" Then follow through on whatever answer comes to mind.
