Day 5: Worth It Every Time

Reading: Psalm 34:18-19; Romans 8:28

Devotional: The righteous will face many troubles—this is promised, not avoided. But so is this: the Lord is close to the brokenhearted. Your hurt doesn't disqualify you; it positions you for God's nearness.

Picking up the towel to love again feels impossible when your hands still shake from past wounds. But this is lifelong practice: keeping your heart exactly where God intended it, soft and whole. The little child you once were—before betrayal, disappointment, and grief—still lives within you. Don't let hurt steal that heart. Love anyway. Love when it's hard, love when it's risky, love when you're the one who needs forgiveness. Because on the other side of vulnerability is community, joy, being truly seen and loved. You become like the tree planted by water—fruitful even in drought, whole even after storms. It's worth it every time.
