The Gift of Forgiveness

Reading: 1 John 4:9-11

Devotional: "This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him." Christmas is fundamentally about forgiveness—God choosing not to hold our transgressions against us. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life abundantly. Forgiveness doesn't mean saying the hurt was okay; it means choosing not to hold it against someone anymore, just as God doesn't hold our sins against us. Right now, the Holy Spirit may be bringing someone to mind—someone you need to release. Holding onto unforgiveness makes you a prisoner. But when you surrender it to God, acknowledging He alone is judge, you experience freedom, peace, and God's favor resting on you.

Reflection Questions:

Who has the Holy Spirit brought to your mind that you need to forgive?
What would it look like to release that person fully to God today?
