Serving From a Transformed Heart

Once you experience real love, there is no going back. This week, we explored what it means to be transformed by God's love, not just have our behavior modified by religion. Real love, the kind God demonstrated for us while we were still sinners (Romans 5:8), does not just change what we do. It changes who we are.

The story of Ruth reminds us that real love is revealed when serving costs you something. Ruth had no guarantee of a reward, no promise of a future, yet she clung to Naomi and said, "Where you go, I will go." (Ruth 1:16) And through that faithful act of selfless love, God was quietly positioning a king, and ultimately a Savior, to enter the world.

The question is not what is in it for you. The question is what can God do through you when your heart has been truly transformed by his love.
